Plaque is a sticky film that accumulates on the surface of your teeth. It contains a mass of bacteria and its progression may lead to various oral problems such as bad breath (halitosis), gum disease, dental caries and even tooth loss – if left untreated.
The dental procedure for removing plaque (deep prophylaxis) is affordable, but most people avoid it because they are time-bound or simply don’t like going to the dentist.
If you are one of these people, read on and learn how you can improve your dental health by using these simple, yet very effective home remedies.
Home Remedy #1
½ l water
60g nutshell flour
Combine the ingredients in a pot and bring it to a boil. Simmer for around 10 minutes over low heat, remove, and let it cool. You will get a paste-like mixture identical to a conventional toothpaste.
Brush your teeth for 5 minutes twice a month and you will see the results.
Home remedy #2
2 sunflower seed flour
2 lime juice
½ l water
Mix the ingredients in a pot, bring to a boil, and simmer for an hour over low heat. Brush your teeth for 5 minutes with this mixture twice a month. It will help prevent plaque and tartar buildup on your teeth.
Daily dental hygiene is necessary for your oral health. The following tips will help you keep your dental health at an optimal level.
- Brush your teeth on a daily basis, ideally you should brush your teeth after each meal.
- Brush your teeth for at least 2 minutes.
- Don’t forget the mouthwash. You can make your own by mixing thyme and mint infusion, or mix sea water and tap water in a ratio 1:2
- Do not do the plaque-removing procedure too often, twice a month is enough. Otherwise, you will damage your teeth. For plaque deposits that won’t come off, you should visit your dentist.
